Carlan Gray (Senior Counselor)

Carlan earned her B.S. from Cornell University before going on to graduate with a Masters in Education from Cornell University in 2005. Carlan then started her career as a high school science teacher, teaching and supporting students through the AP Biology curriculum and teaching 9th grade introductory classes while serving as the head of the Science Department at Ithaca High School. As an undergraduate at Cornell, Carlan competed for four years in Division 1 track and field and cross-country, and was selected captain by her peers during a career in which set school records and earned All-Honors. She leveraged this experience into coaching high school cross country after launching her teaching career. 

With a Masters in School Leadership from Columbia University, Carlan transitioned to an Associate Principal role in a comprehensive public high school where she specialized in curriculum, program development and advising students and parents. She spent the last four years as a Principal of a large public middle school in Ithaca, NY. Her work with parents, students and schools has allowed Carlan to develop a unique set of skills and knowledge to navigate the complexities, challenges, and opportunities presented by high school and in helping students achieve their future goals.
